If you’ve been living under a cardboard box this week, you’ve missed one of the biggest news cycles in Metal Gear Solid since Delta’s release. Konami had a huge presence at PlayStation’s State of Play on Feb 12 with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 being revealed, finally liberating MGS4 from PS3 purgatory. Then at Ubisoft’s Six Invitational on Feb 15 they finally revealed Solid Snake, complete with David Hayter’s iconic voice into Rainbow Six Siege as a full-fledged Operator. Vol. 1 got a massive free final update, and so far the results seem to be good despite what seems to be a glaring missed opportunity to fix long standing audio issues. And overshadowed by all of this it feels, Director Kojima had a surprise everyone saw coming, but welcomed nonetheless. Details below.
The spotlight hit Konami hard during the Feb 12 State of Play and they delivered. The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 trailer premiered and confirmed an August 27, 2026 launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC through Steam. Pre orders went live right away on the PlayStation Store and other platforms. Physical Day One Editions are priced at $50 and come with bonus in game items.

Hot on Vol. 2’s heels, Master Collection Vol. 1 got Patch 3.0.0 (or 2.1.0 on some platforms), rolling out immediately. This “final” update addresses long standing launch woes:
Despite all these positive fixes, one glaring issue is still hanging over multiple games: the audio reverb. Do us a favor and like, RT, and share our post about the audio issue. Let’s hope Konami finally does the right thing.
