Pre-loading for METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol. 2 has begun on PS5, according to an early report from players. MGN spotted the first sign of the download becoming available on August 24, ahead of the collection’s August 27 launch.
Pre-loading lets players download a game before its official release time. That way, most of the download is already on the console when the game unlocks, which can save time on launch day, especially for players with slower internet connections. It does not grant early access: the game remains locked until its scheduled release time, and the system may still need to verify or install final data before play begins.
Konami announced that the collection would launch on August 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. This early PS5 pre-load report gave fans a chance to get ready before launch.
