Peace Walker’s rare humming Game Over themes

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has some wonderfully strange Game Over audio. A compilation shared by @Mr_Beacon00 brings together characters humming the Game Over theme, and our immediate reaction was surprise: we had never heard this range of voices before.

The source makes an important distinction: these special humming themes are extremely rare in normal gameplay, rather than simply being unused audio. The compilation also includes some unused variants, so the two should not be treated as interchangeable.

Why these caught us by surprise

In our follow-up, we explained that we almost never linger on the Game Over screen. When we do reach it, we are usually pressing the exit button to continue. We remembered hearing someone say something once, but had no idea so many different voices existed for this.

That is what made the compilation such a treat. We thanked the creator for sharing it: another small piece of Peace Walker’s personality worth stopping to hear.
