Locations

Shadow Moses is more than a single military base. Its docks, storage buildings, towers, and underground spaces form a route that repeatedly changes how the island feels—and how Snake moves through it.

Explore Shadow Moses

Eleven area maps follow the route from arrival to departure. Maps may reveal rooms, routes, items, and encounter labels. Open a location below to view its description and map. Every section starts closed; later-area maps include spoilers.

01Cargo Dock
01 · ARRIVAL

The infiltration begins below the island, among cold water, stacked cargo, and a narrow route toward the elevator. This enclosed opening establishes the relationship between cover, patrols, and careful movement.

02Heliport
02 · ARRIVAL

An open landing area replaces the shelter of the dock. Searchlights cross the pad, snow exposes the approach, and ventilation shafts connect the exterior to the building beyond.

03Tank Hangar
03 · THE FACILITY

A large vehicle bay forms the first major interior hub. Catwalks overlook the floor, while the elevator connects the hangar with holding cells and an armory below. These smaller rooms give the complex a depth the exterior only hints at.

04Canyon
04 · THE FACILITY

A brief return to the outdoors creates a sharp contrast with the hangar. The exposed, snow-covered passage channels movement between the southern building and the nuclear storage complex.

05Nuclear Warhead Storage Building
05 · THE FACILITY

Industrial storage, offices, and underground research spaces occupy different levels of this building. The route moves from a broad storage floor into tighter rooms and corridors, revealing another side of the facility.

06Cave & Underground Passage
06 · BEYOND THE STORAGE BUILDING · LATER-AREA MAP SPOILERS

Natural rock interrupts the military architecture. The cave opens into a longer underground route, exchanging the clear edges of corridors and stairways for rougher terrain and restricted sightlines.

07Communications Tower
07 · BEYOND THE STORAGE BUILDING · LATER-AREA MAP SPOILERS

The towers turn the route upward. Stairwells, rooftops, exterior connections, and the second tower create a vertical journey with a very different sense of scale from the lower buildings.

08Snowfield
08 · BEYOND THE STORAGE BUILDING · LATER-AREA MAP SPOILERS

Beyond the towers lies a wide stretch of exposed winter terrain. The snowfield trades enclosed passages for distance and sparse cover, making its open space one of Shadow Moses’s most striking changes of pace.

09Furnace & Warehouse
09 · DEEPER INTO SHADOW MOSES · LATER-AREA MAP SPOILERS

The facility’s industrial machinery takes over here. The hot furnace area leads into service passages and a cargo elevator, followed by a colder warehouse farther along the route.

10Underground Base
10 · DEEPER INTO SHADOW MOSES · LATER-AREA MAP SPOILERS

The deepest section of Shadow Moses brings together the base’s largest interior spaces. Platforms, access routes, and connected levels reveal the scale of the installation beneath the island.

11Escape Route
11 · DEEPER INTO SHADOW MOSES · LATER-AREA MAP SPOILERS

The final stretch is a departure from the careful approach that opened the mission. This map shows the route out of the complex; keep it closed if you would rather discover that final geography while playing.
