Back in August, we reported that the Metal Gear series had reached 60 million cumulative sales. Konami’s latest figures put the total at 61.1 million as of the end of December 2023—another substantial milestone for the series.

That is an increase of 1.1 million compared with the 60 million figure we previously reported. This comparison spans the period between those two totals; it should not be read as 1.1 million sales in the final quarter alone.

We believe the release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 contributed heavily to that growth. The figure covers the series as a whole, however, and does not give us a separate sales total for the collection.

In the discussion, we welcomed the quarter’s performance and wondered what a future Delta release might mean for the series. Our replies were:
@Nyxus_MGS I see. For one quarter of sales though, that is not bad at all, all things considering. It will be interesting what their projections for Delta sales will be if it indeed releases this year.
@Nyxus_MGS Yeah I honestly think that's mostly Sony just puffing their chest out for the year showing they have big 3rd party titles coming out this year, but I'm not at all totally convinced yet that a 2024 release will actually happen. We will see I guess.
At this point, we remained cautious about a 2024 release. Konami’s financial-results presentation listed Delta with its release date still to be determined.
