Looking ahead to 2024: Our Metal Gear hopes and what was actually confirmed

2024 could shape up to be another exciting year for Metal Gear. Our original post mixed confirmed developments with hopes for what might come next, and we clarified that distinction in our replies.

Continued Master Collection Vol. 1 updates, Delta development updates and Solid Snake’s announced Fortnite appearance were the confirmed items we pointed to. A Delta release-date announcement and a Volume 2 announcement were our expectations, rather than confirmed news.

The Volume 2 image was our fan concept

The proposed Volume 2 packaging was created by MGN as a personal dream collection. It was 100% unofficial, and did not confirm a lineup or release.

Our full clarification

I guess I should have titled this "Could shape up"... 🫨

Anyways... Let me clarify for the few people that are having a tough time understanding the intent of my original post.

This is officially confirmed for 2024:
✅ Continued updates/fixes to the MGS MC Vol.1
✅ MGS Δ: SE development updates
✅ (I forgot to add this) Solid Snake in Fortnite released (official images show more characters as well coming soon)

Now the rest is speculation but has a very high likely of happening based on timelines in the past and other factors but technically not official yet:

✅ MGS Δ: SE release date announcement (I cannot imagine we wont get a release date this year let alone some even thinking it will actually be released this year. Which I'm not saying, just sticking to release date announcement.)
✅ A MGS: MC Vol. 2 announcement (Its purely speculation by myself. Based on how aggressively quick Vol.1 came from announcement to release. I think there is a very strong possibility it will be though. Nothing officially has been announced.)
✅ Top Secret projects unannounced... yet (Konami and David Hayter have literally teased special projects are in the works) as to what specifically we don't know, yet.

Lastly that second image is 100% fake, and its not the first time I have posted it and have told people its fake. I made it as an Idea of what I could see being done with also just being a possible dream collection for myself personally. Volume 2 really could be anything. Take your pick.

Hope this clears things up for those struggling with my OP. 🤨

Further thoughts from our replies

We also discussed the uncertainty around a possible MGS4 port, our imagined lineup and how clearly the original post communicated its intent:

Considering they have been busy fixing a lot of issues for Vol.1 and they are trying to make this the release what we all originally expected at launch, I'm more optimistic about things, but if and when MGS4 is confirmed as a part of Vol.2 I imagine it could be a difficult task to port that game. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

@runningwizards Hey, I'm not saying your wrong, in fact my first take was having Portable ops instead of Rising which made more sense to me and people pushed back hard on me about it. It really could be anything. https://x.com/MGSMGN/status/1661802281304756224

@NTPrime I honestly did not know that about the checkmark thing. Noted. My apologies, I tried to clear this up in my following reply to the OP. My intent wasn't to deceive but get excited about what I think is most likely to happen this year and I'm still pretty confident in this. My B 🫤

@NTPrime Appreciate your helpful and respectful feedback. I will try to do better, and be more clear with my posts moving forward.

The Fortnite survey was a possibility, too

Our reply about a reported player survey mentioned Solidus Snake and Cyborg Raiden. Appearing in a survey did not guarantee that either would become a skin.
