Konami provides a beginner’s guide to Metal Gear

Konami has put together a beginner’s guide to Metal Gear, offering newcomers a visual introduction to the series ahead of Master Collection Vol. 1.

A briefing for first-time players

The guide focuses on the fundamentals of infiltration: staying out of sight, choosing how to get past guards and escaping when an alert brings reinforcements. Short demonstrations cover familiar approaches such as cardboard boxes, crawling, ledge-hanging and lockers, alongside distractions, tranquilizers and CQC.

It also points players toward the Codec for situational advice and introduces the series’ world, its nuclear-armed Metal Gear weapons and some of its distinctive opponents.

For those of us who already know these games, it is a handy page to pass along to someone starting their first mission. It offers a broad introduction across the series, rather than a game-by-game walkthrough.
