Metal Gear Solid has another filmmaking team attached. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directors of Final Destination: Bloodlines, will direct Sony’s Columbia Pictures adaptation, with Avi Arad and Ari Arad producing.
Borys Kit’s April 9 report places the film within a first-look deal covering Sony’s film labels. Through their new company, Wonderlab, the duo will develop projects to direct themselves and produce original films for other directors.

The directors praised Kojima’s game for its cinematic impact and expressed enthusiasm about adapting its characters and world. Sony’s Sanford Panitch also welcomed them in a statement, highlighting their visual storytelling and suspense.
Their Sony slate also includes an animated Venom film and the original science-fiction project The Earthling. THR notes that Bloodlines earned $317 million worldwide on a budget of around $50 million.
The report names the directors and producers but does not provide a cast, filming start or release date.
Our reaction remains cautious. We’ve followed the Metal Gear movie’s long road for years, and another development announcement is not the same as a finished film. This is a concrete reported step, but we’ll keep our expectations measured until there is more to show.
