Our retro setup with the Scalable Video Switch and RetroTINK

Shoutout to Arthrimus and his amazing Scalable Video Switch. Paired with the amazing products by Mike Chi at RetroTINK, our retro setup is just about perfect. We are finally really enjoying it, and it is so nicely organised. 🥰

The appeal here is making a collection of older consoles easier to enjoy. The Scalable Video Switch is a modular automatic analogue video switch: instead of repeatedly swapping cables, we can keep systems connected and switch between them.

Arthrimus describes it as a customisable, user-upgradable system, with SCART, component, VGA, and composite/S-Video modules. Automatic switching uses sync-signal detection, so powering on the console selects its signal. Optional Toslink modules handle optical digital audio.

Alongside our RetroTINK equipment, it has made the whole setup feel much more organised. For us, that is the payoff: enjoying the games and the hardware we already love.
