Master Collection Vol. 2’s missing PS4 version leaves us hoping for a digital release

We’ve been asked why Master Collection Vol. 2 has no announced PS4 version. We still hope Konami will announce a digital release for the platform.

There is some context from Vol. 1: PS4 players in most regions received it digitally, while the physical edition was limited to EMEA. Konami announced that disc release on January 9, 2024, with a March 7 launch.

We wondered whether the work required to bring MGS4 across had something to do with the decision. But with Vol. 2 also coming to the original Nintendo Switch, that leaves us unsure. Konami has not given us a reason to treat that possibility as an explanation.

For now, the announced platforms are PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. We’d still like to see PS4 added, even if it is download-only.
