Kōzō Shioya, Japanese voice of MGS2’s Fatman and Dragon Ball Z’s Majin Buu, has passed away

We’re saddened to share that veteran Japanese voice actor Kōzō Shioya has passed away. His agency’s profile records his death on January 20, 2026.

Shioya was widely known for voicing Majin Buu in Dragon Ball Z. For Metal Gear fans, he was the Japanese voice of Fatman in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

His performances are part of the games and shows so many of us grew up with. Rest in peace, and our condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
