Nitroid has released version 1.0 of MGS4 iPod Manager, a Windows utility and companion plugin that expands the in-game iPod in the Master Collection version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
The manager lets players add custom music while preserving MGS4’s original iPod tracks. It supports FLAC, WAV, AAC, M4A, MP3, OGG, and WMA files, and expands the library to 1,024 tracks: the 73 default tracks plus up to 951 custom additions.
Players can organize tracks by category, inspect metadata and annotations, and view waveforms. The plugin can also keep music playing continuously while the iPod is unequipped, making it possible to listen without keeping the item selected.
The release also supports restoring the MGS4 Integral Podcast and Guns of the HIDECHAN!Radio. Those recordings require a separate download from Nexus Mods; they are not bundled with the manager itself.
Nitroid has also published a walkthrough covering installation and use:
Download the latest release, extract its MGS4 folder into the game’s installation directory, and launch MGS4\iPod\iPodManager.exe. The .NET 10 Desktop Runtime is required if it is not already installed. Nitroid says the release package includes the required iPod Manager plugin and Ultimate ASI Loader.
The project is an unofficial fan-made mod and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Konami.
