On March 4, 2000, PlayStation 2 launched in Japan. Twenty-four years later, we are looking back at a machine that became home to some of the best games of its era—and, for us, arguably any era.
For Metal Gear fans, the PS2 years mean MGS2 and MGS3, alongside an extraordinary wider library. Seeing the titles gathered together is still striking. It is hard to believe that this was simply what gaming looked like at the time.

Our anniversary post celebrates both the console and that breadth of games. It remains a remarkable period to revisit.
