State of Play June 2025 packed with surprises!

Archive update — October 31, 2026: This June 2025 page collected pre-release Delta footage. For background on the Cobra Unit and Snake vs. Monkey, see producer Noriaki Okamura’s February 12, 2025 State of Play announcement. That announcement set the PS5 release for August 28, 2025. The later FOX HUNT confirmation is summarized below so the page no longer ends with unresolved multiplayer speculation.

Snake vs. Monkey brings the Ape Escape crossover back to Metal Gear. Okamura’s official announcement confirms the mode for PS5. This historical trailer page is not a complete platform-by-platform mode guide; current platform details belong with the official game information.

Later confirmation: The online mode was named FOX HUNT. In its September 25, 2025 announcement, Konami described an original hide-and-seek-style survival competition for up to 12 players, scheduled for October 30, 2025. Cross-platform play was not supported. This replaces our original speculation about an MGO return; FOX HUNT should be identified by its own name.

For MGN, these announcements showed two different ways of revisiting Metal Gear: bringing back a familiar side activity and developing a separate online mode around stealth. The clips remain here as a record of that pre-release coverage.
