Archive note — checked October 31, 2026: Originally an April 2025 preview. Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater launched August 28, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Opinions below concern pre-release material, not a new performance test.
In the preview footage, the foliage, lighting and detailed character models were the visual draw for us. Konami describes Delta as a remake with new graphics, rather than a simple resolution upgrade. Our enthusiasm here is a response to that presentation, not a measured comparison of PS5 Pro performance.
The preview images emphasize fine character and equipment detail. For us, that treatment helps familiar designs read clearly without reinventing the characters.
For longtime fans, the appeal is seeing familiar scenes presented with modern character detail. Konami’s stated aim is to preserve MGS3’s story and world. That commitment should not be read as proof that every cutscene, animation or camera movement is identical to the 2004 game.
What is confirmed: This is a graphical remake of MGS3. The announcement does not establish that every individual asset was redesigned.
Audio That Honors the Past
Konami confirms the return of the original voice acting alongside 3D audio. Preserving those performances matters to us because they are such a large part of MGS3’s identity. The earlier claims here about uncompressed recordings and exactly which lines were re-recorded were not supported by the sources linked in this article and have been removed.
What is confirmed: Konami’s description says the original voice acting returns; that is more precise than claiming a complete replacement cast or specifying unverified recording changes.
A Remake That Respects Its Roots
To us, the central appeal of a faithful remake is keeping MGS3 recognizable while making its presentation easier to revisit. That is an editorial judgment about the project’s direction, rather than a claim that we have compared every original animation file with the remake.
What is confirmed: Konami describes the same story and world, with modern graphics and controls. That does not mean every gameplay detail is unchanged.
Controls That Bridge Old and New
Konami’s has taken a dual approach that caters to both newcomers and nostalgic fans:
New Style: A modern over-the-shoulder third-person camera, inspired by Metal Gear Solid V, lets you aim and move simultaneously using L2/R2 for shooting. Snake can now crouch-walk, making stealth faster and more fluid. It’s intuitive without losing the series’ tactical depth.
Legacy Style: For purists, this top-down viewpoint recreates the original’s feel, complete with that classic MGS3 vibe. It’s like stepping into a time machine, but with polished visuals.
This flexibility ensures everyone gets the experience they want, whether you’re a first-timer or a CQC veteran.
Myth Debunked: Rumors swirled that the remake would ditch the original controls entirely. Not true—Legacy Style keeps the old-school feel intact.
Thoughtful Quality-of-Life Upgrades
One documented quality-of-life addition is quicker camouflage selection. In its March 27, 2025 gameplay introduction, Konami showed a feature for quickly changing face camouflage and uniforms.
For MGN, the appeal is spending less time interrupting stealth to change camouflage. That is our response to the demonstrated feature, rather than a claim about every menu or accessibility option.
This preview does not establish the full range of HUD layout settings. Our earlier description of completely unrestricted HUD placement went beyond the official material linked here.
Correction: We have removed the claim that every HUD element can be placed freely or that the original layout can be recreated exactly. Those details need a direct source or a documented check of the released game.
The Iconic Color Grading Stays Piss Filter and All
MGS3’s warm, stylized palette is an important part of its identity for us. The comparison images here show why atmosphere matters alongside added detail. They are preview-image comparisons, not proof that every scene reproduces the original grading exactly.
Our view: Preserving the atmosphere matters. That preference should be distinguished from a verified claim that all original color grading is unchanged.
Konami Honors Kojima and the Original MGS3 Team in Metal Gear Solid Δ
Hideo Kojima and the original MGS3 team created the work this remake builds on. We value recognition of that contribution. The previous blanket claim that all mentions of the original developers were preserved across every credit and promotional material went beyond the evidence cited here and has been removed.
Editorial view: A faithful remake should acknowledge its creative origins. Claims about the complete credits need a direct comparison of the released game.
Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater feels like a love letter to the original that doesn’t shy away from modern flair. The stunning visuals, flexible controls, and thoughtful tweaks make it accessible for newcomers while keeping longtime fans like me grinning ear to ear. This remake seems poised to deliver.
