Konami’s August 2024 outlook prompted questions about Metal Gear Solid Delta’s release timing

Konami’s August 1, 2024 financial results had us considering whether Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater might arrive in 2025 rather than before the end of 2024.

The remake appeared in the outlook for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. Konami said production was continuing to prepare it for release, retaining the original game’s core while updating its graphics and sound. The report itself did not set a release date.

Konami August 1 2024 financial results: fiscal-year outlook and Metal Gear Solid Delta development

Our reading at the time was that the broader fiscal-year window could leave room for a release as late as March 2025. That was our interpretation, with Sony’s tentative 2024 listing still the main calendar-year indication we had highlighted.

With only 141 days left in 2024 when we posted this on August 12, and plenty of information and marketing still to come, a 2025 release was looking increasingly plausible to us. We stressed that nothing would be confirmed until Konami announced a date through its official channels.

In our follow-up, we also pointed to Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show approaching in the coming weeks, with a good possibility of more news from one of those events.
